Lladró Opens a ‘Lifestyle’ Showroom in Barcelona

mayo 25, 2019

Founded in 1953, Lladró has to be one of the most famous Spanish brands in the world. Their porcelain figurines are products of handicraft elevated to art. I remember some 15 years ago, there was an exhibition of Lladró at the State Historical Museum in Moscow, and it was absolutely glorious, a supreme representation of Spain’s traditional crafts.

But the world is changing, and apparently Lladró’s traditional market was declining beyond repair, so the company has decided to modernize its image and diversify the product offering via a ‘Lifestyle’ approach. Alongside the traditional figurines of ballet dancers, pets, floral sellers and so on, you can now find original creations from renowned contemporary artists, such as Jaime Hayon or Hisakazu Shimizu, and other product categories, including refined jewelry, a variety of lamps, ambient candles, scents, tableware, mirrors, vases, auxiliary tables and other home decor items.

To showcase the new ‘Lifestyle’ range and all the different luxurious applications of porcelain, Lladró has recently assembled a new showroom in their Barcelona store at Passeig de Gràcia, 100. The space, designed by architect Hector Ruiz Velázquez, features collaboration with upscale home furnishing suppliers such as Sancal (furniture), Porcelanosa (bathroom) and Gancedo (textiles, remember how I gave a makeover to a vintage telephone table with seat using a beautiful yellow fabric from this store?)

I really like that they have opted for this trendy bohemian vibe, which can liven up any space with its cheerful pops of color. The lamp design is really  cool, and don’t let me even get started on the chandelier!
